I have already used the Bissell 9400 ProHeat 2X Select Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner to clean the stains inevitably associated with cats and kids potty little from my Berber carpet. A friend who is cleaner, so I borrowed it on several occasions before finally deciding to get one of mine. Just before I was ready to buy, Good Housekeeping ran a review on the Hoover SteamVac so I searched on Amazon. I read the reviews and decided to take my chances with it.
It amazes me that the difference between the two machines. Bissell used to cut out the carpet fibers and leaves a nasty hairballs behind what appears as I worked. The tanks are clean and dirty in the same unit that is intelligent, but almost impossible to clean.
The Hoover has two tanks – one for cleaning the water heater with a compartment for the cleaning solution, and one for dirty water. Both water tanks hold a gallon. I had no problems loading the tank clean or remove the tank dirty. No trickle of dirty water, no puddles on the carpet or on the kitchen floor when changing tanks.
As I said before, I cleaned my whole house several times with the Bissell machine, but I was amazed that muddy water almost came out the carpet. It was as if I had not cleaned the floor before. The tank is easy to rinse off dirt and reconnect. The trick is to “lie down” the machine so that the tank is clean, and on the ground attached to the handle. Unsnap the clip and the tank is dirty right off without any problem at all. Cleaning, snap the lid on the clip and back to his place and then you can stand back up to manage and deal with the tank clean.
The aspiration of this machine is amazing. It ‘used to take hours and hours for the carpet to dry when I used the Bissell. I would have to turn the fans up and let them go at night to have carpets dry in the morning. Two hours after cleaning the carpet (2 cleaning / rinsing passes plus a rinse only way) and the floor was almost dry.
I tried the Hoover on my tiles in the kitchen. I hate ceramic tile. I’ll never have another house, but I’m stuck with it for now. I usually use the Vapor Clean II Steam / pressure cleaner on the tile, but decided to give Hoover a try because it came with a cleaning solution for the job. I would not use it every time I clean the kitchen floor, but for a quick cleaning before company that will do the trick. Once again I have not had any problems puddle. If you release the trigger just before you finish the stretch to pull it will have no puddling speak of. The Hoover does a great job sucking the water on the tile and also obtains water from the mortar. What does a great job on Malta, because it is what it is intended to do. I’ll stick to my VaporClean and special brush that I have for this.
I’m also happy with the amount of detergent used. Bissell passes through the cleaning solution at a rate much faster than the Hoover ago. I like that, after leaving the soap to the fibers is only going to make the floor get dirty faster.
The only things that I am not enthusiastic:
The distributor of cleaning solution is integrated with the tank of clean water. I wish it came with a jet or something connected that by pouring the remaining solution was not so messy. I know that I could leave the solution there between uses, but I already had to pour the solution left to go to the carpet cleaner hard surface – then I had to put the hard surface cleaner back in the bottle to go back for more carpet work. A kind of disappearance or a spout with a spout plug reversible attachment would be great.
The attachment is a kind of pipe inconsistent. I had the whole assembly fell tube several times while I was changing tanks. Not a huge deal, but it is annoying to the point that I’m thinking that part off and stored separately until I need to use the tools at hand.

We purchased the land Everything about six months ago. The instructions are very well written and the assembly was easy. I fired up for the first time and clean the carpets beautifully. I thought it was a real winner. After that initial problems began to creep up. From the second use, the reservoir of clean water has started losing about the seal at a rate quite significantly. Probably should have returned the unit, but I did not and now regret because it is now totally out of order. The brushes are connected via a drive shaft that is less than 1 / 4 “thick plastic. On our cleaner cut out and this tree is stuck in the ward. Only at this point I have made any serious research on the All Terrain Internet and realized that these two issues have much in common with these units and apparently working on Hoover for the repair can be a nightmare. Caveat Emptor
By Mother of four (Denver, Co.)
So I tried a steam cleaner for more than a week, reading reviews of any steam cleaner that has a review to try to choose one that will work for my family. With all the negative comments about Hoover disappointed me and the thought of changing brands. I had a Hoover spin scrub and it worked wonderfully for over 5yrs, but bring up and down the stairs and my son leaving pounds on the steps of the face plate cracked. Even if I could have it repaired, honestly I felt it was a good excuse to get me a new and chose to give my old to charity. Of all the reviews I’ve read, what I heard was no meaningful information was a true gentleman who was an engineer who said that the plastic on the tank was too fragile. Armed with this information, I did go to my local shop Hoover to see what they had in stock. I was ready to buy another spinscub or to get my repaired. I purchased the All-terrain steamvac after speaking with the representative. She did not dispute that the plastic is more brittle and tanks should be able to withstand some abuse ‘more, however, also said that all the people who entered the shop to have replaced the tanks, abused in somehow. Plastic is not made for hot water, so if your tap water is very hot, then fill the tank with fresh water. the temperature warmer. break the shell. He said that the heating of hot water is so high that when you run only the hot water is too hot to touch. and mixes with cold water to get her temp. right. Scenerio other, said the people fell, when the tank is filled with water. In all the years I do not remember ever falling into the tank so I was not worried about this. And the last scenerio, explained that a woman had her boyfriend with the car and had pushed the tank in place and cracked in some way. I tried replacing the tank with me in the shop and it seemed simple enough. so I bought it. I had only a few days, but already cleaned with it. and I like to be wrong it.something machine reviewer only because I filled mine with 16 ounces of cleaner and have cleaned my formal living room, formal dining room, family room, bedrooms, stairs and basement, probably near 1500sq. ft and more than half of the solution in it. The new design is much better than spinscrub. The tube attaches to the attacks by hand at the front so that you do not crack at the base, as in older models. I like that the cleaning solution is in a separate container so that when you run out of clean water or clean water is cold, you can only refill the water side without having to waste cleaning solution or solution having determined each time you must fill the tank. The button is nice when you rinse water sprayed down a stain on the carpet and it becomes too much soap, then just turn the button and dispense only water. The people I talked to the shop vacuum cleaner to say that most of the repairs, with the valves to involve the solution that is used. Oxy-clean and then not eat the rubber seal properly. Never put oxy-clean in the tank. It ‘good to use the bones to spray on the carpet, but not the stuff in the dust. I must say it cleans great. My dog barfed a few things on my green carpet a week ago and since I had anything to clean it with, you just sit in the carpet. Well, the stain is gone and sat on the carpet for a week! The dirty water tank is always coming in with dirt and stuff. The spots of dirt in my carpet from my dog / children are gone and the carpet looks great. I am very satisfied. I buy the extended 3yr warrenty on the machine. 50bucks to protect my investments in case of change my mind about it in a few months! But I recommend to anyone go to your local store. I read a lot of reviews with women bitching about the tank not in the bathroom sink or the cable was not long enough. Personally, I do not want a small tank that fits in my sink. I too clean the carpet and the smaller the tank, the more I have to fill it. We’ve all had those days when nothing is going our way. Just relax. Get a grip! It’s just a steam cleaner and our country is at war! Hope this was helpful!
