This is a good value for a Blu-ray in line with the new features available, such as Netflix, Pandora, and BD-Live. It’s small and easy to install and configure. I use the HDMI output to my Samsung HDTV and optical digital audio output to my AV receiver. Anynet + function is useful to help its members work together to reduce Samsung pushing the button. I connected an Ethernet cable and easily got it online and the configuration with my pre-existing account with Netflix and Pandora. I read BD-Live requires 1GB USB flash drive. I have cable modem download speed to 6MB / s range so the picture quality is very good from Netflix, I’d say is equivalent to DVD quality upconverted. The audio quality is excellent and the Pandora service commercial music is supreme. Blu-ray DVD upconverted standard DVDs look fantastic and look great too. This is not the most high-end HQV chip, to my knowledge. Interface button face is fresh and has a high-tech feel to it. The loading time is very fast – about 8 to 10s. The menus look good and are easy to navigate. No complaints here. I’m very happy getting all these characteristics of entry-level price.

I received this machine for Blu-ray and in April 2009, along with a Samsung HDTV. The player has worked well – playback of discs, streaming Netflix and Pandora – until last month. An automatic update the firmware, which I accepted via the Internet has introduced a bug that disables the machine. The car is now stuck with the screen only show “LOAD”. There is no main menu and disk in the drive, have no effect when switched to ‘jump-start’ the machine.
I have discussed this issue with Samsung Tech Support ( ‘support’ to be used freely here) and informed me that this is a known problem and their engineers are working on a solution. In the meantime, I have seen the bulletin board discussions with people who have the same problem. Samsung representatives continually suggest the same, ineffective ‘solutions’: holding down the FF install the latest firmware update – which,> is impossible because the player is locked and b> the original cause of the machine is not working.
The final solution by representatives Samsung is to send the machine in for repair. During a chat session with support from Samsung, I was informed that the price of this would be $ 160.00. I only paid $ 80 for it, as there was an Amazon discount of $ 200 on any player has purchased a TV for qualification.
The idea that Samsung expects customers to return the machine for repair and pay for those repairs is ridiculous. It’s their own firmware, which delivers to these machines, which is the cause of these problems.
As I said before, the quality of the player – when he was working – is great. However, with it in its current state, and Samsung fleecing of their customers, which led me to “spread the word and in no way, shape or form can possibly recommend this product – or any other product, Samsung — until something is done.
