This kid is excellent. And you can not beat the price too. Also extremely easy to configure.
I come from an HP LaserJet, even 30 sheets per minute. So I was comparing it with the HP when I shopped.
My HP, while I served well, was not so black as strong as his brother. I like the results of the press by his brother better. Plus, his brother have settings when printing only text, graphics, general, or Office documents, in addition you can choose “Manual” and change the settings yourself to your liking. I also like that the size of the printer is rather small.
The HP was a bit ‘faster from sleep mode (as 8 seconds), while his brother takes approx 5370. 14 seconds. Not a biggie. The processor is faster than HP, but 99% of the time you will not notice the difference. Once you start printing, spitting out papers like crazy. Very fast. An important note, though: The fast 32 ppm is only if you print in 600 dpi mode. If you need a higher quality mode 1200 dpi, print speed is down by half! But there again, 99% of the time the 600 dpi is more than enough. Some higher quality images may require 1200 dpi, though.
Printing envelopes with the multi-purpose paper tray is very good, and you’re not getting wrinkled (like many older brothers did) until you open the rear output tray. You can not print through the print area periodically (if you do, you will still print, but the envelopes get wrinkled). I miss the HP in this area. And ‘much less cumbersome.
The printer is quite noisy. But the fastest laser printers are noisy.
Duplexer worked beautifully. Just select “Duplex” or “Booklet” and the printer does the rest. Very good job with that.
I have not used the wireless network, but the manual seems to be a little ‘complicated. Even the manual is as follows: “… Even if the printer can be used in both wired and wireless, only one connection methods can be used at a time …” In order to keep in mind, if you want to use both.
I would suggest the following improvements, if your brother is interested in listening:
- Make it quiet;
- Add a little ‘display of high quality instead of all the lamps (also miss my HP – all have’em cheap inkjet today!)
- If out of paper, it should beep, so I know of no paper (optional – not everyone will like beep);
- Activating the multi-purpose paper tray to be open with one hand (as my HP) does not force me to use both hands.

This printer meets every complaint I have about printers. There is usually some quality one that makes you say: “It would have been perfect, but if only one has had this problem.” Every aspect of this printer is good or better than almost all other printers out there right now. And I am a person who is relentless when it comes to researching products before buying them for me.
Resolution: Go up to 1200×1200, which is the highest out there right now. 1200×1200 is the best thing for text. But it also does 2400×600, which is generally better for graphics. Most other laser printers do only up to 2400×600.
Toner: Cheap! You can take “compatible” cartridges for $ 30 now that will last 8000 pages. This is the cheapest of any printer I’ve seen. Other printers (like HP) are $ 70 for 2000-3000 pages, even with the cartridge of a “compliant.”
Print Quality: Excellent. I used a magnifying glass to try to identify any flaws in the text or graphics, but has not found much. N. white lines raster, “jaggies”, smudging, bleeding, noise or random points printed anywhere. Large rectangles blacks are solid and consistent. Gray scale models does not seem to have defects.
Memory: 32MB. Most other laser printers do only up to 8 MB at the moment. Do you need storage if you want to do full-page graphics. It allows you to expand memory by adding an inexpensive ($ 30 new) 512 MB memory card. Many printers do not even allow for expansion, or force you to buy their own special memory cards to a huge price.
Book: Do not jam. Easy to load. It has a manual feed also. Allows 2 paper feeders extra if you want. Most printers are not allowed.
Duplex: fast, easy to use, saves paper. I will never buy another printer without it.
Paper curl: you can not tell if they are not specifically looking for it. Just detectable with the method of two-sided printing and paper at low cost. Even print envelopes with almost no curl.
Rear output tray: Ha! Many printers do not. His predecessor did not. This “straight back” mode allows you to print envelopes, cards, specialty papers, and never bend if you really want perfection.
On / off: they have! I say this because many printers do not. Without it, it is a printer left on all the time, that uses 10 watts of power (not much, but still) and reduces the lifetime of the product a bit ‘.
Lifetime: The previous model (HL-5250DN) has excellent reviews. People said that they are still using 3 years later. The HL-5370DW has almost the same design, and I expect that will last a bit ‘. Not cheap, disposable printer as you often see.
Networking: I have not tried. But it is, and will become very useful when I have a wireless laptop to add to my existing desktop PC (both need to share it).
Languages: We talk PostScript 3 and PCL. That guarantees that will be compatible with any operating system out there, even older ones. And given that does not use “host based” language as cheaper printers do not eat your CPU and slow things down during printing.
In conclusion, this is a well-designed, high quality printer with low running costs in the long term, and I am completely satisfied. I’ll add an update to this review if I ever encounter problems with it.
