If I’m going to spend more than a hundred dollars on an item or somewhere around there, I do extensive research before I got to know the best bang-for-the buck-and, consequently, dodge any potential buyer of remorse future.
I realized that I spend my time making comparisons between products is often the time that others do not have so I can share what I can.
I will start by saying that you’ll see my “Verified Amazon Purchase” on the Flip Ultra HD camcorder review because, obviously, this is what I wound up buying and I’ll share with you why. But what I like in a camera may not suit your needs so I’ll break it down and let you decide what is best for you by what I discovered:
Here are pocket cameras I compared:
Flip UltraHD (will be referred to as “F”)
Flip Mino HD 2nd generation (will be referred to as “M”)
Creative Labs Vado HD 8 GB 2nd generation (will be referred to as “CL”)
Kodak Zi6 Pocket HD (will be called “K”)
Why only HD cameras? Brighter colors and better images, the images larger

I previously owned MinoHD Flip so this review is based on a comparison between the new MinoHD Flip and Flip UltraHD.
After reading more than UltraHD Flip with an HDMI output, larger screen and more battery life I decided to sell my 4 months and buy UltraHD MinoHD Flip Flip. Since MinoHD is very elegant and small in size, my first reaction was that it was a bit UltraHD ‘bigger and bigger to hold, and took some time to adjust. However, unless you used a size larger than MinoHD UlraHD will probably be less obvious. I found the camera controls UltraHD to be slightly easier to use against the touch sensitive buttons on MinoHD. As for the video quality between the two, I compared two different video and both are about the same, however, the colors seem a bit ‘more lively with the UltraHD.
If you are trying to decide what to buy, if maximum portability is important to you that the MinoHD is the best choice. Otherwise, if you’re looking compact camera with more features (HDMI output, replaceable batteries, it’s time to record), then you can not go wrong with the UltraHD.
My final wish is for Pure Digital / Cisco to introduce a MinoHD with all the same functionality UltraHD. Until then, the UltraHD is all around better choice.
