I was looking for a TV battery specifically for use in case of power failure AA. After reading reviews on different brands of portable TV from different places, I decided to give this a try. The battery is fully charged when received.

The first channel scan with the antenna provided does not take anything, (I live about 20 miles from the nearest transmission tower). I connected an old set of rabbit ears that came with a TV that I bought many years ago, rescanned and picked up 3 channels, a weather station, the local NBC affiliate, and something else. The weather and local news is what is important to me when the power is off, so that is good. I connected the cable, rescanned and received all of my regular cable channels. For emergencies, this work. I am purchasing a 12 volt power supply that runs on 8 D batteries as a backup internal battery that lasted about 2 hours.
Has a very well when connected to rabbit ears and perhaps even better when hooked to cable.
Another note: I have repositioned the rabbit ears and now get 6 channels.
The power supply I bought is not available here. [...].
The only negative: coaxial antenna provided and the connection is close to screw the cable to it. (I solved this with a push on connector, which raises sufficient connection for easy attachment of the cable or antenna).
The image of this unit posted on Amazon and elsewhere, is not the SC-499d. Watch images sent to the customer to see the picture I sent from the web site of the factory.
Update: Amazon has changed the image on their website since I added the website from the producers.

The TV setup process was simple. Great little picture and sound appropriate for a small package. The antenna supplied with the TV is useless unless it is called within 1 mile of the transmitter, standing on the roof of your house. I connected the TV up to my rooftop antenna and scanned in 20 channels. I tried 4 different indoor digital antenna and had to spend another $ 36 Terk model listed here on Amazon. You must use an amplified antenna. The $ 36 Terk was equally good as a $ 65 Radio Shack antenna. Short version is, be prepared to buy another antenna to use this TV and only then, you’re only gonna get ‘some’ of channels with a rooftop antenna will get.

Unless you are authorized to use the Empire State Building or the Eiffel Tower, like your basic TV antenna that captures more than a couple of channels. Amazon sells a Terk HD antenna that must be plugged into an electrical outlet to function. Imagine a portable TV antenna connected to an AC worked! Besides catches only a religious channel. Anyway, I returned the antenna and bought an antenna RCA HDTV flat with no better results, I returned the second antenna and bought rabbit ears antenna with the same disappointing results. I live in South Miami, Channel 4, CBS, is less than eight miles away, I see myself in the middle, sometimes I do, sometimes I do not. Enfatically I do not recommend this TV. The audio is terrible.
