After spending too much time on searching and viewing of these televisions to big box stores, I finally bought this set from Amazon and could not be happier.

I was in the plasma vs. LCD debate for a while ‘and decided that I needed / wanted the brightness of an LCD, does not want to worry about any burn in problems (I know they are almost nonexistent today, anyway). I wanted 1080p and most 1080p plasma sets are close to this price point as well. I debated for about a month between ln52a630 and ln52a750 recent years, and which one to buy. The matte screen on the 630 was his highlight for me, but there was a sacrifice in contrast ratio and various other little “bells and whistles.” The A750 is the most expensive, the price point has decreased so much, was practically a swap, too. Heard of the problems associated with glare 750 including Halo and TOC scaling issues, I decided the 630 with its matte screen is the TV for me.

So, I shopped price the A630 for a couple of weeks until I came across a new version of the set, the ln52b630. A little ‘money is well spent and more with the upgrade to this TV. The contrast ratio is 40,000:1 vs 80,000:1 twice, and also dominates in recent years, the contrast ratio of 50,000:1 A750. Again, this TV also has the matte screen! Almost no problems with reflections in my room very bright vision, which has more windows and a sliding glass door.

The quality of TV pictures is the best my friends and I have seen so far from an LCD. Deep blacks and brilliant brights are the comments I heard when people see this TV in operation. Clarity on Blu-ray 1080p 120Hz is breathtaking, almost do not want to look away from the screen. I have it connected to the service of Dish Network’s HD in 1080i and the PQ is superb, a slight loss of clarity and blur in fast moving sequences that exists in 1080p. Standard def programming also looks great as well.

As for the audio, I’ve setup via the surround sound, so I can not comment.

I still have to connect an Ethernet cable to use these features.
** UPDATE ** I connected the Ethernet cable and the InfoLink “features work as advertised. It is a nice feature, news, temperature / weather, stocks all positioned in the corners of the screen. Can I ever use it, probably not. But works as advertised. I wish that was a way to update the firmware on the television, rather than for these features.

Links to the USB port is another excellent feature. Allows you to play movies, music and pictures directly from the side of the TV with a USB flash drive or an external hard drive. It will play almost any codec you throw at it, presumably, x264 (HD), have not been able to verify this.

The remote is well designed and easy to use. Samsung has eliminated the dreaded “click-wheel ‘in this year the new models.

Delivery: Pilot was my shipping service, and I can not say anything bad about the service. Delivery early and made the necessary phone calls to arrange delivery. The box was in great form, as well as the television inside.

I was looking for and participation in a new update television in the last 2 years. Samsung was one of the few manufacturers that offered to non-glare matte screens, which is necessary in our sun-filled living room. But I was always waiting for the right price. So when I was about to get the LN52A630, I heard about the new B series to be released in 2009. So I had to wait with 120Hz refresh rate and an upgrade from a dynamic contrast ratio of 80,000:1 to 40,000:1. Besides the look and shape of the series B seemed so much better to me that the series A. So Amazon had offered a Sony Blu-ray Free with the purchase of certain models of Samsung (including LN52B630), and that was my cue to finally place my order on 7/4/09.

Delivery:
When I placed our order I originally set the date of delivery for 7/15/09. Once I had the tracking number from Amazon and CEVA-mail notification of shipment, I started to monitor our TV. The result is one of their stores is located in very close to the PA and NJ. Our TV was right in our neighborhood on 7/7/09. CEVA so I gave him an invitation to provide information on early and were more than happy to deliver TV on 7/10/09. The delivery went well, and the communication I had with CEVA has been great. The kids have the TV up three flights of stairs, set the TV on the stand, gently put the TV on our console, then plugged in and turned on …

Product:
Photos – We started to change channels to see how it seemed. The image is really amazing. The default settings are really the film seem like a soap opera, which is really strange and fascinating at the same time. It takes time to find the right settings for the environment and the type of input. It ‘great that once the settings are set for a specific input maintains the settings. There are so many different settings, which allow a lot of flexibility to adapt to a particular input device. We have cable TV on their natural and AMP transparent. Cable HD is great and the standard is pretty good on a large screen LCD. XBOX is in game mode and it seems wonderful. My husband was dying to try Call of Duty on it and was totally blown away by the colors and the image on the screen. When it was time to look at the Blu-ray, we played Baraka (which I totally recommend the experience to appreciate 1080p). E ‘was unreal! The picture was extraordinary and the detail was incredible. E ‘be like we were there in person.

Sound – Even though we have our B630 hooked to our surround sound receiver, I tried the sound from the TV. It’s not bad and the volume is pretty decent, actually pretty strong even halfway.

Other – The B630 is a very interesting television. Everyone has commented touch of red and think it’s really cool. The inputs available are more than enough. Swivel stand is fantastic for when you are cooking or just turning around depends on my luck. The swivel stand is a plus, when you get to the back of the television to easily work on cables and inputs. Viewing angles are pretty good. Matte non-glare screen is wonderful too, no need to close the shades during the day anymore. Experience the USB input with an external hard drive media game and found the response time very fast for a TV. The media play mode is fairly intuitive and easy to use. Photos look amazing as well. I noticed the car blackout during the credits of movies and screens blacks. This happens when the option of saving energy is used. We set the option off and now darkness is nonexistent. InfoLink via Ethernet is a nice feature, but limiting. I hope that Samsung makes an update to enable widgets and viewing online. BTW, the Ethernet is great for getting firmware updates available from Samsung. V1009 firmware was available for download and the update was quick and seamless. Since I have not had the TV long enough, do not know what the firmware update improved, but the TV is working well.

We love our Samsung LN52B630. I must shamefully admit that I fell asleep watching television almost every night for the last 12 days. My husband would normally be jealous, but also shares the same feelings I have for our new TV. We recommend it to anyone and everyone. The TV has exceeded all our expectations. Amazon has allowed us to have an incredible price and free delivery service of large white gloves as well. It ‘a winner and we could not be happier.

We were looking for a 55 “matte screen LCD TV, but does not seem to be any. I came across this 52″ and has had a chance, I could not find in our local shops. I’m very pleased, the picture is great. I am not an expert, so I can not give a thorough examination. I can say that my husband said he had a lot of pictures (the HD is great).
I also wanted to comment on the delivery. I read the reviews on other TVs that gave bad reviews of the pilot service. When I received the e-mail saying he would be handed to the pilot, I was expecting the worst. There service was great, they set it in the room I requested, attached the support and control to a blue screen and have no damage occurred before I signed. They also took away the packaging.
Also, Kudos to Amazon. I ordered the TV on Wednesday and Friday it was delivered. I could not ask for more. I am happy with the TV and Amazon’s service.

I already knew that I wanted to LCD Plasma. So I spent weeks reading reviews and compare the specifications of everything from Panasonic G15/G10 & S1 to Samsungs B650, B560 and B550. Came to the conclusion that Samsung has better color accuracy and Panasonic have several layers of black. However, Panasonic has even better service to customers and a lower percentage of TV with problems. There have been numerous reports of Samsung’s 2009 series B plasma with a “buzz” problem. While I was a bit scared ‘, I decided that the TV for me was the PN50B560 Samsung.

If you compare Samsungs, the B560 is the Crystal Engine with Full HD Cinema smooth, while the B550 is not. The B650 also has Full HD Crystal Engine with Cinema smoothly, but one with an added feature, an Ethernet port for the use of widgets such as weather, sports, stocks, etc. .. Something that I read is very slow and not very impressive. The 650 also has a touch of red color of the bezel. 550 and 560 are both blended coal, which I preferred.

I am pleased with the colors and black levels of this TV. I also have a Panasonic 50PX80U and I can not say much of a difference. Physically, the TV is very addictive, much more beautiful than Panasonic, and the swivel stand is also nice to have.

Defending the common CONS:
Buzz: no buzz on the TV
Speakers: They sound good, my Panasonic sounds a bit ‘better. But the speakers in flat-screen TVs will not be impressive, I think people just expect more from them.
Clare: Yes, there will be some reflection, its a plasma screen. However, compared to other plasma I looked at the store, not a big difference. I did not have it done a factor.

In summary, if you’re on a budget, I recommend the Samsung B560 or B550. If you can save an extra few hundred more, go with a Panasonic G15 or G10. When it comes down to it, you’ll be happy with any of these choices, unless you’re a videophile, you’ll never notice the difference.

# 1 thing to remember when buying a plasma … BREAK IN. prevent channel logos or video games with stationary or else you will get image retention (not permanent). Sincerely, break in time for a typical plasma is about 100-200 hours. what I love about this plasma, there is a generation shift in black on white screen that helps with breakage of plasma and retention of image. so every night for the last 2 months before going to sleep, I set the sleep of 30 minutes, turn on the photo mode to dynamic (high-contrast and high brightness), and use this to scroll the screen black to white. After about 2 months, retention of image is almost nonexistent. questions about break-ins? [...] And go find their equilibrium plasma thread.

Picture quality is on par with Panasonics in this price range. but if you have the money, go for the Panasonic. slightly better picture quality. Panasonics have their break-in period built in. so you do not have to worry about.

not test the speakers, since I use a home theater setup.

Glare is a small problem for me (depends on where you put it). My room is small. walls are white. Glare is thus expected, but not a deal breaker.

I almost complaints about this television. I fully anticipated. A complaint, but a little. my set is a little buzzing noise coming out of it, but not strong. my home theater system easily drowned out. but if you stand next to Plama, you can hear.

plasma is really heavy. Make sure you have a solid mount to the wall, not just drywall. Do not go cheap on the mounting bracket!

To clarify this is my tv and not just basing this review on time spent in a store of navigation. This TV has been difficult to find and the only place I found this in stock has been my local Best Buy, with a section of Magnolia.

Design: Samsung is known for their elegant design and this TV is no exception. Samsung says it has a touch of charcoal color, but really I have not noticed any color of the bezel. And ‘black and goes to clear the outer edge. Sits on a metal support with an apparent neck holding the tv. In the bottom half of the TV downstairs, where it says Samsung is a blue light that can be turned off. I noticed the flickering light ever so slightly ‘when a command is sent using the remote. The TV is very thin. Only 1.6 “at its fattest point. This is amazing considering this tv is a complete unit with a backlit LED local dimming. Truly amazing and a design that will have your friends jealous.

Image Quality: This is the finest LCD TVs made today. I have seen many other LCD TVs, including the XBR8 Sony and Samsung A950 last year and this is the most beautiful I have seen. In terms of image quality XBR8 is closer, but not quite up to par with the 8500. Realistically, if you had one of these groups in your house would look spectacular. The blacks are so dark in 8500 approaches the level of blacks in plasma TV is better. In a dark room, I could not tell where the TV screen over and bezel began because the screen was so dark. The colors are superb and can be adjusted any number of ways to your liking. I prefer the “natural” mode for everyday use and the film “mode for viewing movies on Blu-ray. Updating 240hz is nice, but the best thing is that you can independently control the settings of Blue and vibration. Raising the 240hz tends to produce what some call the “soap”, but this effect can be easily eliminated by tweaking. There is also a game mode that I use when I play on my PS3.

One interesting thing I discovered is that the movie mode using the Warm 2 setting is placed virtually on the prospect of setting right out of the box. I say this because I have a calibration Spears & Munsil Blu-ray disc and when I run the TV through the calibration process using the Movie mode, the Warm 2 I literally had only one to change the setting of one or two points. I have seen many people just flipping back and forth between the natural and the movie mode, depending on what you are watching, and not worry about how to calibrate the tv looks great pretty much out of the box.

I also wanted to point out that the standard definition looks good on this TV. It does not seem nearly as good as HD, but it is quite acceptable, in my opinion.

Sound: Having a profile to think I expected the sound is horrible. Surprisingly it was quite acceptable. While I would recommend a surround sound system I’ve never felt like the TV speakers were so bad. My wife has never said anything and I have never been to watch a TV show and thought, “Oh, the stench of sound.” I would say that this is an average which is ok for me considering the small amount of space Samsung had to work with. While the audio-philes can not, as the speakers TV / audio I think a lot of people would be totally fine with it.

Viewing Angle: I sit on 9 ‘and 10′ away from the screen and have not noticed any real problems with the viewing angle. Of course not LED LCD will have a viewing angle as good as a plasma, but if you are sitting at a corner that probably will not have to worry too much about this. I think this is more of a personal preference …Maybe a video-phile would notice, but my wife does not notice and never said a thing.

Reflection: Be aware that this is NOT an opaque screen is a reflective screen. If you have Windows in front of the TV so make sure you have curtains or blinds that can block the light is not enough to disturb. I do not think it is more reflective than other Samsung TV, but from an opaque screen before this was a big change for me.

Widgets: The TV is equipped with internet connectivity for Yahoo Widgets, YouTube, Twitter, Sports USA Today and many others. You can buy a Samsung wireless USB dongle to connect wirelessly to the TV network or you can connect an Ethernet cable directly into the back of the TV. I have an Ethernet cable connected directly into the back of it. First, the widgets do not load quickly. I do not know why, but even using a direct cable to the Internet on TV that still do not load quickly. I do not know why, but they are slooow. Slow enough for me to be bothered and do not use them much. It’s strange, because when I went to the You Tube widget and looked for a video that played so fast and was smooth. Samsung hopes will have a software update to allow the widgets to load faster. Now I would say that it is just a novelty. If they can decrease load times and add other applications, such as Facebook, then I think this has potential. But people are not buying this TV because of the widget, they are buying for the image.

Overall I think this is a good tv. It is expensive, yes. Does it have the best picture of any LCD available, yes. If you have the money this is a great tv. I use a Harmony One remote and works perfectly with this tv. PS3 games and Blu-ray looks incredible. The only quibble I have with TV is the reflectivity of the screen and that is more a result of my room setup than the TV itself. If I’m watching HD football, a game for the PS3, watching a Blu-Ray or watching The Office I was swept away by the picture this TV can provide.

The UN55b8500 Samsung is the flagship model and is the successor to the current LN55A950.

Image Quality
A full LED backlit LCD which offers a stunning 7 million: 1 contrast separates the B8500 from other LCDs, reaching deep into the pitch black, formely only possible with the plasma. Some monitors LCD pixels to get the blacks off ink – ok for still images, but too slow to work with the videos – essentially a ploy to inflate the numbers of contrast. The B8500 However, masters of the darker blacks and brighter whites to produce a bold three-dimensional effect or “pop”. In a dark room, the b8500 surpasses LCD in the market, shy pioneer plasma field. In a moderate to light, however, the B8500 dominates absolutely.

The highly reflective screen can be annoying for those who have unfortunately made light sources or windows without shutters. An opaque screen, like the LG 55LH90 might be a better fit for some, but a matte screen diffuses the light that causes the entire screen to lose those blacks desirable ink. I can not say one is better than the other, but for a TV capable of producing such dark blacks, I think the glossy screen makes more sense.

Motion handling is better than any LCD I’ve seen, thanks to separate the blur and vibration and the adjustments very few motion artifacts. Blu ray movies will exhibit perfect as panning or, if you want, smoother and clearer pan similar to a home video. My verizon fios HD shows from time to time the vibrations when you have a good flow of movement. The b8500 can help minimize this, but it is powerful enough to eliminate evil and when set, can be made worse.

After some quick, basic calibration of the colors are vivid and mostly accurate. Noise and artifacts are very minimal to nonexistent in 1080p and 720p. Haloing (eg white text on black background due to ease next to the text) is visible only rarely fail to display greater than 30 degrees off center and increases in severity, since it increases the viewing angle. Display greater than 30 degrees off axis vertically or horizontally also causes a slight loss, contrast and color depth. Display more than 50 ° out causes a significant loss of contrast and color, creating a flat and showing important effects haloing. The range of ideal vision is 15 ° of the center, although centered vertically, the image is hardly degraded at all up to 30 degrees off center. Ideal viewing distance is about 8-14 feet for 720p and 5 to 10 feet for 1080p, even if you do not take these numbers too seriously, obviously you can enjoy this TV from any distance. At 4 feet or less, however, the 46 “model is a better choice.

Usability
The preset picture modes are all pretty good for those who are discerning and want only to see their TV and b8500 does a decent job of automatically assign settings based on input. Of course, high-end buyers are more likely to calibrate the sources of their choice or hire a pro. The TV will remember the settings for dynamic, natural, standard and profiles of films for each source. That gives you much more flexibility

I do echo rating Bearcat like him is very accurate and precise, but I want to throw my 2 cents in. When coupled with Samsung its super-thin wall mounting, which is just a glorified cable attached to two solid disks, the TV sits surprisingly close to the wall. Another neat features that I found hard to believe – When watching movies from an external hard drive, the TV can read a variety of video codec. You can read MP4, AVI, WMV, MPG. I’m not sure for sound support, but I had no luck finding a movie that I will not play right off a USB external hard drive. The TV is also equipped with 1GB of internal storage to keep files in.
All Widgits are slow, but they are sill used with the exception of video-based widgets, which I find to be too slow to load some utilities. I prefer the power of my computer, if I’m going to do any activity based on the Internet.
Of course, I would be only right to refer to how amazed I am with the quality. I’m upgrading from a 55 “CRT-based TV, and watch this TV for me is like watching TV for the first time. The major selling point in this on TV like Samsung 55″ offers is the local dimming function. HDTV I’ve seen many over the years by adjusting the backlight always get deeper blacks and brighter whites, but that simply can not do both at once. It is very annoying for me to see the TV backlight ratchet up and down while watching a scene with a brightness variable. This is where the local dimming feature comes in. This TV can do both glare and shadows, at the same time! I waited for many years to find a TV that is not distracting to watch. My wait is over with the release of the Sony XBR8, but it was more convenient, I’d love. Once I saw the visual quality of fresh Samsung 8000 series, and read the local dimming feature of 8500, I was sold on this TV and I ordered it without sampling the image. I could not be happier.

Quick Pros:
Good connection options, good resolution, bright image, 240hz refresh rate, 1080P, attractive design, excellent sound, and OneCall sales staff.

Quick Cons:
LG Customer Service Mediocre at best! Set Up worst considered no printed manual

First off …. OneCall is awesome! Best Price (and I tried all the dealers that I found at the time) Most Friendly sales staff. Customer service responds via e-mail long after hours! Note: OneCall is listed as “buying decisions more” on Amazon.

Now the TV: television has arrived.
CONS:
Unboxed, plugged all the cables … then with the side button, I tried to turn it on .. Maybe … I then tried the remote … not good there either. Figured I had a DOA series .. I tried a manual … None found .. Only a CD of a manual. Problem was:
1. This was a gift … person receiving the gift does not have computers, so no way to view CD.
2. I was about 56 miles round trip to my house to have access to a computer to print up manual from the CD.
3. Quick Start booklet was included with details of all connections EXCEPT position of the power button! “Standby” switch on the side of the TV is not the power switch.

I found this option after you accidentally disconnected all the cables to return the TV … I reached under the set and felt something “click” What do you know .. a rocker power switch …. Know .. one not listed in the quick start booklet or indicated by an international symbol or words on the front of the set to indicate its position. (I had two more to read the few pages of the Quick Start booklet to see if I lost)

After switching … and pressing the “standby” .. switches were able to start the setup …

4. Returning home after .. I brought the CD with me ….. Manual and guess what ‘! CD not reading on one of my three computers. Is that this was a Friday night … E ‘was Monday before I could get a hold of LG. Have offered to send me a manual … Cool … Why did not they just include a box tv? WAS THE END OF THE FIRST WEEK I GOT IT! And … Was not bound! I had my own punch holes in a thick manual (it was obviously printed from a laser printer) and buy an empty three ring binder and put it together. I guess even priority mail is not necessary to fix a screw on one of their top line of televisions. They never did replace the CD. It ‘was another week before I could drive it to the owner of the TV. I am sure that the idea behind the CD was to save the trees … Well I burned a lot of fuel to solve this problem, at least 112 miles! Geesh! I remember this … If you do not have a computer or a DVD player connected to another TV to review the manual, or have a printer if you want a printed copy … &$%#$’re out of luck!

5. I left a review longer than this at LG and also said I was going to buy more of these televisions … and have not posted my review! I contacted LG three times, e-mails and calls! I never got a response from them that was not a response BOX ….
SO: No manual included (except CD that did not work), Quick Start booklet need to make switching listed (including the list in the guide to the resolution of !!!). NO printed manual back on a TV in this price range is not justifiable! LG customer service and response must improve, and LG does not need to cherry pick reviews for their website. A person needs to come to a website like this that usually publish all reviews.

PRO’S:::
1. Most LCD / Plasma TV sets for sale have poor sound … Let’s face it … Needless to stars or subtract votes for this genre, because to make the TV look decent .. you have to use some small speakers … wants a good sound? …. Then get a home theater system speaker setup … Save this LG! Awesome sound for a modern series ….. For something this size … I think the Outstanding sound compared to its competition, and far beyond my expectations. The bigger surprise, I had an accident outside the printed manual.

2. Plenty of inputs for a 37 “TV including VGA hookup for a computer with a mini jack for audio input … Even though I have not tried this VGA / audio input … it’s nice to see it included. There is a. . DVI input, but you can get an HDMI to DVI gender changer for a few dollars, if you need to go on-line the route.

3. The rate of 240hz refresh was art! I also noticed no backlighting bleed. Backlight bleed is common on the LCD to a certain extent.

4. Black level and contrast is the best thing I’ve seen for a non-LED LCD. Black level is not even close to mine .. plasma but the best I’ve seen in an LCD today. Too bad that does not exist in the plasma smaller than 42 “.

5. Since this TV series was a gift .. I’ve got to use the remote a lot … but it seemed pretty intuitive as I was setting up the TV to work for the first time.

6. I’m thinking of buying more of these TV … we’ll see … For a 37 “LED TV …. I do not think you can do better. (At the time of this review) … Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, JVC, Mitsubishi, Magnavox, Visio, or Toshiba … has a 37 “that this” state of the art “at a special price! Highly Recommended!

So why not 5 stars? Because of more than 112 miles (or more) driving unnecessary to resolve the problem manually. LG “shopping review”, not posting my review (which was pretty hot, except the problem manual) and does not respond properly to my e-mail or phone calls. Make a trip to the office supply store and buy a three-ring binder for the manual.

When you give a gift at this price … It would be nice not to be a bit ‘embarrassed by stupid problems. The person that I have for this have no clue on how to shop, even for an LCD or the time I spent to find this particular TV. So sort of leaves the impression that I had a cheapo TV for them .. It ‘just was not the case. LG needs a spanking! Now .. go and buy the TV!

This installation involved removing a tube-type TV and its replacement with 37-inch LG flat screen. I did read the instructions twice before television was removed from the package. I used it again for the set up. The help screen is beautiful. I had to do some tests to make several before settling. Nothing has been very difficult. I am amazed at how the thinking and were displayed on the screen. Some displays and language was unknown, but over time they were understandable. I like having a TV with this quality vision to my room very small. Thanks Amazon.com and LG. Have done this 70 years the man happy. The installation also impressed my girlfriend.

7 months after purchase it won't turn on!
Good TV initially. I ordered this to watch tv when using my treadmill--I was less concerned about features. After a few uses I realized that turning it on was not a simple press and release of the power button. I began to press and hold the button, then add some "I hope it works" wishes. More and more I just resorted to the manual power button. But finally even that gave out. Eighty dollars () later (shipping back to CA for repair) I'm waiting for the return of my workout buddy. I'm annoyed, but hopeful that our relationship will be even better than before...???

Runaround from Viewsonic after TV died
Stay away from Viewsonic! Purchased the TV from Amazon in April 2010; it stopped working in early June. Faced with delaying tactics from Viewsonic when attempting to have it repaired. The set dieplays the two bird display for a few seconds, then goes black. Attempts to remedy via Viewsonic's web site/chat were unsuccessful. Having difficulty with Viewsonic authorizing repair for the set. For the short period that it operated, it seemed fine. It is dark and silent now. Stay away from Viewsonic!

Don't deal with ViewSonic.
I received my ViewSonic on 6-7-10> Started to Set it up, The next morning when I went to turn it on it didn't turn on just set there and flash a picture of three birds off and on. I couldn't even turn it off only way to stop it was to unplug it/ I called VtewSonic customer support hoping that there was a reset button. The reply was that my problem was a firmware problem and the set would have to go to the ware house to be taken fixed. They sent me the paperwork to return it (at my expense!). The set was recieved on 6-16-10 at the warehouse and today is 7-2-10 and I haven't recieved anthing from them, I have emailed them with no response. Ask me if I ever will buy ViewSonic again?

Good Quality for the Price
Remote is not good in the dark and the onscreen guide is very small and hard to read when in bed but the overall quality is very good and this makes a perfect bedroom TV.

Great product but WARNING:Do Not Turn On SRS!!!
This monitor should come with a warning label "Do Not Use SRS Audio" ... It will jack the firmware of the monitor and you will be stuck with power cycles over and over, rendering the tv/monitor completely useless. No amount of reset attempts will fix it. If I could do anything to take back turning that feature on I would. I loved this monitor when I bought it, waited for it while it was sold out, used it for gaming and a couple movies, and all of it looked amazing. I was shocked, pissed, and angry when I read two other reviews that had this warning and of course it was only after mine had suffered the same fate.

I now get to play the manufacturer return game and hope my next one looks as good and sounded as good as this one did before I changed that one setting and killed the unit...

I began my quest for an HDTV LCD / Monitor over a month ago and bought another 4 articles before buying this ViewSonic VT2430 and returned the 4 previous poor performance. I was actually looking for a unit that includes a DVD player for use in training classes. But I could not find the right combination so I decided to settle on a drive without the DVD player, since those that are built into all economic actors. In this way, keeping the TV and separate DVD player can always update the player, if necessary (BlueRay!).

I watched a LOT of HDTV / monitor and chose the VT2430 for its native 1920×1080 pixel resolution. This works perfectly with the 1920x1080i signals coming through my cable. … And the pictures are absolutely breathtaking! More than I even expected, even already knowing the quality of Viewsonic monitors. And there are many options for editing and image management for all inputs. One of the reasons to return a unit that Toshiba was the native resolution is 1680×1050 pixels, which, when fed a signal 1920×1080 pixels (HDTV), stretches the image vertically … no way to correct the distortion. In fact, the manual states that “the adjustment of image size are not available with 720th and 1080th! Very poor planning signals via cable, as most are either 790th or 1080i.

The image obtained with the PC VT2430 is absolutely awesome. I am writing this review with this monitor with the resolution set to 1920×1080, a perfect match with my PC. There are at least 10 resolution settings of others that work as well – the results right lower resolution. Regardless of the resolution sent from my PC, the VT2430 automatically adjusts the picture better with each setting. Very nice.

The audio was another problem I found with all other units I tried. Most of them were either too low in volume, or when the volume was raised became very distorted. Not so with the VT2430. Plenty of clean sound at all volume settings, including strong enough to fill the rooms where I do my training.

The image I get from my (LG), DVD player, which updates an output to 1080i via an HDMI cable, is very good. I also have a BlueRay player that puts out a 1080p signal, which, again, it fits perfectly to the resolution of the VT2430, for a pretty picture.

The general framework of this monitor is much more accurate, clean and visible than any other monitors I looked. The dynamic range is very wide, between the darker colors and grays and blacks, not quite up to my Samsung 52 in (More than $ 2300), but more than any other similar size monitors.

Physically, I like the fact that the monitor can be tilted back to look for higher positions. Furthermore, the stand plate can be easily removed for transportation in its original box, which I do often when I’m training.

Great monitor. I would recommend to anyone. I would, however, the rating downgrade from 1 / 2 point for not having a DVD player. But that is not what it is! ViewSonic sells a LCD HDTV / DVD Combo monitors, but has a lower rate pixel resolution designed more for the 720i, which is fine for most uses at this smaller size. But, having been a television studio tech in charge of regulation and maintenance of studio monitors, have become too demanding and ever need (!) Best.

This unit’s main claim to fame is that, at this time, its about the only 1080p HDTV available in this size range that has a complete set of video inputs. I decided to take the risk and improve my old 23 “720p” HD ready “bedroom, since I was hankering to go up to 1080 with a built-in ATSC tuner. And yes I can definitely tell the difference from 720.

ATSC tuner: it works well, reasonable sensitivity, broadcast 1080i is spectacular, of course.

QAM tuner: I just got to experiment with clear-QAM, which my Cablecar now requires a bit ‘of (I have yet to subscribe to digital cable, and set-top box). The trouble is that when I use the function of the set of practical planning manual “name”, each channel (up to 8 characters I think) that sometimes loses some of the items. Also some channels every so often “hidden”, suddenly began to show, and I have to manually “hide” all new. Fortunately mode cable properly mixed legacy NTSC analog tuner and clear-QAM digital channels in a transparent, I must not change modes.

HDMI from the DVD player: I use an upconverting DVD player; aspect ratio must be changed manually. Wide-screen DVDs look great.

HDMI from the computer, from production my older Mac laptop DVI; worked great and self-perceived the Mac’s video screen size 1080 and set it as monitor # 2, which was very convenient, I had to adjust anything. The image was perfect. I suspect that if people have problems with the video for PC, which could face problems with their video cards or drivers, and not the monitor.

Composite video: I used an old VCR without problems. The upconversion is OK, this depends greatly on the quality of the source of course.

Sound: I do not use the built-in speakers, I have the audio-output connected to my sound system.

I have not tried these inputs: VGA / Component / S-video

The image quality of the panel is reasonable for the low-price range – its certainly better than my old 720 of the panel, especially the black levels – but its not going to win any awards videophile. Sometimes blacks are a little ‘connected’. I noticed a small amount of light-leakage around the edges when the screen is black.

Why a VT2430 ViewSonic 24-inch 1080p? Thumb VT2430-24 was selected as the smallest set compatible with our dinette area. The decision was helped by my experience with another 1080p. Some guests with an excellent reputation tend to reject 1080p in a set this small (disclosure: we have a nice 19 “Sharp 1080p, too).

One thing that is usually neglected as regards the sizing is the way to read the English subtitles appear at typical viewing distance. 24-Sep-inch readability gives ample space for the spectator as far away (11 feet) without sacrificing detail for the closest (7). Recommendations Tech specify a minimum screen size of 40 inches to 10 meters distance vision — too big to keep in our dinette.

The range of available sound power available is astonishing. Why have an energy saving LCD HDTV, if you must add a power amplifier to get sound recording facilities? With our VT2430 a family member, with some difficulty hearing has absolutely no problem hearing. Except for testing, we have never used a sound level much more than half what the VT2430 offers. With my old Sharp, however, the maximum sound level is inadequate every time an air conditioner is running in a window of 10 ‘x 16′ room.

We were concerned about our over-the-air reception for the effect of a new metal roof on our attic mounted antenna. With a single economic, indoor, amplified antenna stations take longer than with pre-roof, standard TV, and indications are that an external antenna will eventually restore the PBS stations lost because of their reduction in height transmitter with transition to DTV .

Set-up and use remote is very easy. The surprise was perhaps the best on-screen DTV Program “Guide” The VT2430 offers. The listing of the program was not expected and is sometimes very convenient, because our local newspaper, do not perform schedules of DTV channel yet. I wish my old Sharp had this function.

With its many positive aspects and of superior quality, this set would rate 5 stars. Since we have our property VT2430 one year, it would be unfair to certify its duration so soon, though.

Overall I’m very pleased with this TV and fits the purpose for which I purchased a 12×12 room with a VESA wall-mount. The physical aspect is great and is very easy to use. I tried all the inputs and here’s what I found:
- HDMI is perfect for Blu-rays; the DVD up-conversion is so-so (there may be artifacts multiple times in an entire movie)
- The component appears (to the naked eye), the same HDMI
- The composite seemed much better for DVD HDMI / DVD, but it was still impressive. This is why the rate of image quality as 4 instead of 5.

The sound quality is acceptable. It’s nothing to go further than WOW, but it is certainly clear enough to enjoy comfortably in a room 12×12.

As a computer monitor, the VGA hook-up is perfect. If not used as a regular TV, I’d use it as a PC monitor in the blink of an eye. Crystal clear text and not see any ghost of any type.

If you are trying to code for a universal remote for this TV, insert the codes for Philips / Magnavox (if that Viewsonic are not in your manual). That said, I am not able to find one where the “Input” button on the universal remote control worked (and I tried a lot ‘). Volume, channel and power TV all worked well with Philips / Magnavox codes.

CAUTION: Do-Not-try to use a Panasonic DMP-BD60 Blu-ray Disc Player with this TV, there was an awful lot of artifacts (Blu-ray was evil and DVDs were unwatchable). When connected to multiple devices, both the TV and work fine player. I ended up switching to a Sony BDP-S360 Blu-ray Disc Player and works perfectly with this TV.

Are basically satisfied with this TV series, but had to go through many steps before I can say this: I am moderately deaf and depend CLOSED CAPTIONS to complete my understanding of any dialogue. I was able to get the captions for the TV set, but no matter what I did, reading and rereading the manual, could not get the captions on the settings .. HDMI high definition. When I send the VIEWSONIC I was returned with a .. very nice e-mail and instructions are just a repetition of the manual. After two or three more back and forths, I was advised that the HDMI does not support captions. I then wrote to J & R, the seller of this TV. They were very cooperative and VIEWSONIC contacted on my behalf. The representative was also advised that VIEWSONIC, in fact, not suport subtitles on HDMI. I felt that I was forced to spend the rest of my vision on the approach VIEWSONIC TV in order to get the captions. However, when my cable service people learned of my problem, were able to get captions with my cable characteristics. I’m now enjoying the full features of the TV VIEWSONIC fun, not because of them.

I chose this TV because I live in a studio and not have enough room for both a TV screen and a computer screen. I was already on my computer to watch movies and to live without TV, but only so much is available online (especially live events). It ‘was very difficult to find a high-resolution screen enough to work as a computer monitor, but this TV was a perfect game!

First, attributes on TV, the picture quality is great and not many HD channels give me the option to “zoom” and fill the screen, if necessary. I also have a 20-yr old Nintendo and Atari 25 years, another reason to get the TV, that overtime work and automatically stretch to fill the big screen without distorting too much. My complaints are only the channel management is a bit ‘awkward and the right blue power button on the front is a bit’ of distraction. The sound is mediocre, but also, of course, you’re not going to find $ 500 speakers on a TV $ 300. I TV output through my stereo receiver and speakers the sound is much much better.

As a monitor that this TV really excels. The resolution is consistent with what you are on a widescreen monitor standard, so there is no blurriness common with the output of a signal through a standard CRT monitor. Even after the LCD over the years, this is my first with no dead pixels. Great job on ViewSonic quality control. I have not tried the game yet, you probably would not have pushed it anyways, but films in DVD output just as if I had a DVD player connected to your TV directly. Simply perfect in every way as a monitor, but if you are using Windows I suggest switching the theme to one that allows extra large type, if you’re squinting.

I just got my TV last Friday and it is everything I expected. Unlike the first reviewer on this site, I have not had overheating problems (fingers crossed). If you read his review he did admit the TV was great until that started happening. I just hope you do not get the same problem.

On to my review:
I spent over a year and a half looking for flat screens. I came close to purchasing a Samsung 71F series, but when the salesman told me that the new models coming out in March 2008, I decided to take and do more research on these models. I almost bought the 5 series, but when I discovered that no 120Hz refresh rate, I decided to research the 6 series and ended buying the 46A650.

I briefly looked at the number 7, but when I discovered that the only difference between the two was that the 7 Series has a USB port for your MP3 player and 1 GB of cache, I realized that it was not for me. I use a dock connected to my receiver when I play my MP3, so for me it was a useless function fork extra $ $ $ for. Also, I have a PS3 so I do not really need 1 GB of cache to use the TV as a multimedia center. If you do not have a PS3 and a plan to use your TV to view photos and play music then the 7 series might be for you.

I have the 46 “and I was amazed at how light it was. I was able to pick it up alone and put him on the stand. The red is absolutely amazing. This is what I prefer my girlfriend like about this TV. Personally, I like the red because it is very subtle and goes with our large family room.

The first night we got that we have seen the movie Ratatouille on Blu-ray Disc. Let me tell you, after seeing the movie my jaw was sore because I think I spent more than 3/4ths of the movie with my jaw open the picture amazing. The picture was so clear and concise that we paused and we were able to see even the little freckles on the mice throughout the film, including the separate hairs.

As I said I play video games with my PS3, so the refresh rate to 120 Hz was essential to have. MLB the Show 08 is insane. Just looking at the players faces and even the fans blew away. My brother has a 46 “inch Vizio 1080p and has recommended to me by saying that there is not much difference between the two so they are better than savings. Let me tell you, it is absolutely wrong. I saw his vice and to be honest, can not even hold the jockstrap of the 46A650 if it was a boy. There is a big difference believe me. The only TV that could probably match-ups for this is the Bravia XBR with 120Hz. This’ ve been what I would buy if I had not got this . So far, I have absolutely no regrets.

The reason that I have studied for over a year and a half is because I wanted to have a TV that if something new came on the market a few months later, I do not regret my purchase. I feel very strongly that I do not regret this purchase down the line.

I like to have 4 HDMI inputs. This was very important for my purchase, since I have two separate HDMI components. The TV also has an ethernet port, so I connected to the Internet. Can weather, news and stock quotes through it. I admit, I have not used a lot, but it’s nice to know, I check the temperature at the touch of a button.

The blacks on this TV are awesome and I can have my curtain open on the window of my room, great family and I can see the tv clearly during the day. I love the TruSurround feature, since right now I only have two speakers and a subwoofer. The screen is glossy, but I have a problem with it. I like the glossy look and besides, it is proposed to make the colors more vivid and intense. I played with different display modes, but really, I like the best standard. The movie mode is a bit ‘too dark for me and the game is a bit’ too bright. Standard mode is my desired preference.

The remote is irregular in shape and takes a little ‘getting used to. It also has an iPod like scroll. Some people complain that this is an ugly remote. Cons:

The TV is so good that the TV stations with weak signals, you can see the weakness of the signal. On some you could see the lines and imperfections, to have a weak signal. This is only one, with some channels. It ‘a negative, but that’s what you get when the image is very detailed, is not only get good quality, but also evil, if the signal is not strong. Regardless, that issue may be debatable next year, when TV stations will be required to transmit a digital signal.

Another problem is that when you turn it takes about 3-4 seconds to get my signal from my digital cable box DVR. Also when you switch between sources it takes around the same amount of time to catch the signal. I am impatient, which is a negative quality of mine. In our house, it seems to be a problem only with me, since it does not bother my fiancee at all or any of our friends. Perhaps it would be with if I were not so stupidly impatient.

These are really the only two problems I have with the TV and me are much more lenient. I just please do not start getting the problems, the reviewer first experience.

I am very happy with my purchase. I am very satisfied and not feel guilty or regret having to make this purchase. Until now, I feel this TV is worth every penny I paid for it. Before picking up this TV I had 2 of the television series 71. Both had problems with flicker like a cluster Dim pixels below the screen. I still had my last 71 under the policy of 30 days so I came back for this years new model: the 650A.

The TV itself is beautiful. The hint of red is very low, adds a nice touch when you get up close. A warning for the screen is glossy. If your room is well lit and you get distracted by the reflections, it is not for you. The advantage of the glossy screen is more vivid colors and contrast. SO for most its worth the glow of having a beautiful picture when you close the curtains. If the light of day I have no problem at all to watch, but its optimal in dark.

The remote control is interesting. Ipod is a wheel in turn inspired the center of the remote control that is super touchy. It takes some getting used to, but its kind of cool. Source input is now a dropdown menu where you directly choose the input rather than cycling through them one by one. It also has a motion sensor in it, once activated, the car turns the light into the remote when its movement. People complain that its a bad remote, but seriously, is remote. You do not look at it as an image of the TV.

Speaking of which the picture is the TV, where he really shines. Vibrant colors, striking details, the blacks with ink. This is the LCD display that I expected. BluRay = amazing.

So the TV is very similar to 71 except 3 new modes which are called “Entertainment Modes” These are pre-calibrated from the factory and you can not adjust the image.
1. Sports mode: For high speed sports. This mode is much brighter than the others and is designed to address rhythm files.
2.Game: This is for games, obviously. The function of AMP is attenuated, but the video processor is turned for a smooth game play. The colors are less vivid sports, but only slightly.
3. Cinema Mode: scheduled for films and ‘film darker as the picture. AMP operates at normal capacity. Some think that this is the dark, but I really think its ideal.

The best part about the manner Entertainment: No vibration or stutter and TBE is pretty round series 71. These modes are amazing and should be used only in TV mode to provide regular.

You can read something more of the features, but so far this TV is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. There were quite a few reports of random restarts, I still have. If this is a widespread problem that will patch the older models and will come from the factory with the fix installed. Samsung TV have had this problem before and that was fixed last time. I have no worries. (And just restarted, hooray)

I want to say first off that I also experienced the bug where the TV comes on suddenly turns itself off, but after installing the firmware upgrade that Samsung posted on 4 / 5 the problem is gone.

I agree with other reviews that the picture is AMAZING. I am also happy to see that Samsung has added an HDMI port 4. Initially I was worried that the “touch of color,” might clash with my style, but it is very thin, especially if you mount the TV inside the cabinet. The “Infolink” feature is nice and easy to configure, but I do not see how it is extremely useful.

Now for some caveats. I bought this TV right after the establishment of an LNT4661F for my inlaws, and I was very surprised to realize that the A650 is missing several features from the 4661F, despite A650 costs $ 650 more. For starters, the A650 does not have a rear S-video port (only one S-video port on the side). This is probably not a big problem for most people, but if you are using a VCR or cable box, elderly, etc. you have a cable attached to the side of the TV. Also there is a single port on the back of the TV compound, plus one on the side. If you want to switch from three surveillance cameras consists of entry, so you’re out of luck. More of a concern for me was that the A650 has only 1 antenna input versus 2 on the 4661F. This means that the A650 is not possible to connect both the antenna and a cable input. I believe that all the data uses a Samsung set top box in order to cut corners there.

By far my biggest complaint is with the remote. Again unlike the 4661F, the A650 does not have a universal remote control! It ‘basically a TV-only remote, although control can Samsung “Anynet +” components connected via HDMI. This seems like a big step backwards and bothers me more than the other functions that have been removed. Even the remote is not described at Samsung so I had no way of knowing that the remote had been “de-improved”. I agree with other reviewers that the navigation wheel is horrible … spins freely which makes it practically useless … You Spin the dial to select, then as you move your finger to press the Enter button inside the scroll wheel, the wheel moves and you select the wrong value. One might wonder “what were they thinking?”. I’ve seen Happy Meal toys with better tactile feedback!

Despite my criticisms and annoyance that some features were removed, I still rated this TV as 5 stars because in my book, the image quality is by far the biggest consideration and it looks great to me. Even the aesthetic is very beautiful and new features such as 4th HDMI and Infolink for the properties are removed and small remote control.

I had my TV for well over 8 months and it works perfectly.
I had to upgrade from a previous Samsung and only 13 inches. So needless to say it took some time to get used to the size of the screen.

One thing that many do not comment on is that the TV produces a 3D effect, as if people in the foreground stand out against the background. Some people complain about this, but I think that makes the scene very realistic and gives you the feeling that there are. All friends and family agree with me. . . If still a problem after his fall a bit ‘eyes is used to it and it is not obvious.

At present this is one of the top models of the line, and even if LED came out driving down the price of all LCD models that I bought this TV because I knew it was longevity. Because even its 1080p, 120Hz, a high contrast ratio, and the Samsungs I’ve bought have lasted over 13 years! I think the TV will now cost $ 1300, which I think is still worth in value. I got 1500.

Of course you must have HD channels to really see the value of the TV, it does a good enough job for any HD channels. I have a PS3 and COD playing or watching a blue ray (including non-ray blue) looks amazing on TV. Granted you need a HDMI cable and PS3 enhances regular DVD. Many are blown away by the detail you see.

So what are some of the negative aspects, we can not always be biased. The TV does hot. . . needs to have a spacious room so that the heat will not overpower a room. I usually keep a fan on when I turn on my TV just so my room is cold. Even when you turn it off is always a sound notification that it is off. I personally could do with that route. Tried to find the option to disable, but has not yet found one.

Misc tid bits.
The TV turns on relatively quickly, within 5 seconds. My family has a Sony Bravia and it takes forever (15 seconds) to turn. Although it’s a small thing that I find important.

I would recommend this purchase for anyone looking for a quality LCD TV that can still enjoy the fact that led quickly to take control of the market.

Oh. Wow. I have had this TV for six months. I initially purchased a Samsung 52 inch A550, but it was too big and Blu-ray playback stuttered through the rate of 60 Hz refresh rate. So I exchanged for the A650.

Every time you turn on, its like being transported to another reality. Joking aside, the depth of color, clarity, contrast – everything about this TV is very pretty, well, perfect. E ‘loaded with features, including this self-smoothing effect that makes the standard 24 – or 30 fps content to hear how his playing 120fps, and causes a disturbing reality, all too realistic effect, as the TV is not a TV , its window, and all the action is taking place literally in front of your face. I leave this feature turned off, its too intense for me.

I never had a technical problem with the TV. Its super easy to use, menus are friendly, and the “Red Touch of Color” – which at first I worried that I am concerned – just adds a hint of subtle elegance. You barely notice unless there is light from behind, and so its really kind of cool looking.
