VLED221wm ViewSonic 22-inch LCD is the first LED-backlit display to grace our laboratory, and we were eager to put technology to the test. LCD monitors typically sport cold cathode fluorescent backlight, which may be less uniform, and it is always in the background, can compromise the ability of a screen to produce a true black. With LED, the screen is backlit with a grid of lights that can be turned on and off as needed. Sure enough, the VLED221wm 1680×1050 was capable of a black that exceeded that of any other LCD we’ve tested – but the result was really excessive.

Even after the brightness cranked up, we were unable to obtain an acceptable separation of values at the dark end of the spectrum in our tests DisplayMate. This lack of separation led to a noticeable loss of detail in games and movies.

The VLED221wm in particular also has a range of 118 colors per cent – based on transmission standard NTSE – whereas LCDs have traditionally produced a variety of colors to 72 percent, and most recently, 92 per cent. Expanded the range of colors allows you to view VLED221wm stunning color saturated, the word “vibrant” does not do justice to punish eyes-red, green, blue and this monitor spits out. In our tests, has made the images look unnatural and gaming graphics seemed too elaborate, but we appreciated the added vitality in the film.

By default, the monitor comes with its Dynamic Contrast feature on, which adjusts the backlighting of the screen depending on the content to display to reach the darkest black and bright white when possible. But the implementation here is pretty poor – during our test movie, the light faded in and out during the different scenes. Fortunately, the function can be disabled, even if we had to dig through the manual to find out how – to keep the monitor button with the arrow for a few seconds.

Given its price range spendy compared to fellow 22-inch monitor, ViewSonic VLED221wm is not only a wise choice. The concept of “true black” is a strong point of sale, but not when there is a loss of perceived quality.

his monitor produces the most beautiful colors I’ve ever seen! I love the deep red. There are also No EDGE bleed, and see it in total darkness most of the time.

I agree with the reviewer above, you must disable dynamic contrast. Does more harm than good.

There is an environment you can try. DVDs look terrible at first. The colors have been greatly exaggerated, whites have been swept away, and the lights were pixilated. I tried all the settings on my video card and DVD software to no avail. Then I decided to read the manual (what a concept!). It turned out to be the default color of 6500K. I set to sRGB, and my jaw hit the floor. E ‘put my Sony GDM-FW900 to shame. Just beautiful!

Close, but no cigar. This monitor displays artifacts that, if previously masked by my FW900. I spent the next few evenings tweaking ffdshow, and now I have a vision that far exceeds my expectations.

I have waited long for an LED backlit display to be available. I’m glad I waited!

I bought this TV because it was on sale and there are some advantages and disadvantages. This is a 22-inch flat screen TV for less than $ 300, so that is impressive, however, the picture is not really that great. I tried to change the color settings many many times and still not quite look right. HD channels I get look pretty good, but not the best I’ve seen.

I bought this screen television once my old standard definition CRT TV died just in time for the transition to digital. After comparison shopping I happened on this tv and chose it to replace my old 19 “CRT. The first thing you’ll notice about this television is its relative weight, while common for flat panel displays is a nice change from bulky CRT. Also Installation is very simple and, once connected to an HD digital cable box via one of two HDMI inputs, the difference in image quality is immediate.

Initially the TV was connected to my HD cable box via the coaxial port on the back of the TV. Suggested by many as an HDTV review I expected the standard definition shows look worse, when connected via HDMI, but I think that range from coaxial (the bottom of the barrel) to HDMI (top of range), provides for an increase rather than decrease, in visual integrity of shows in standard definition and HD are on display all new level. Bright colors, nice sharp images and high quality of the line are the qualities sorely lacking standard-definition programming and television. Also I have had problems with the viewing angle what so ever. If I had this television for nothing, would be that the sound quality is absent (a hallmark appearance of small flat panel displays), but I advise you to install external speaker to remedy this. Besides small nitpick this series has my stamp of approval.

I’m not very good at details, but I had to be the first to say that this is an excellent LCD. I replaced my 19 ‘Samsung with this 21′ and I was impressed by the photos. Much needed improvements needed over LN19A450 were much needed.
This is a third in January LCD; sound is a bit ‘better with the adjustments, but even the speakers themselves (U.S. Speakers Exteral), picture is much better and function adustable backlit screen makes the picture a much deeper, richer view. He’ll need all births except it has only 1 HDMI input. The Price is Right & shipping.

I got this TV via Amazon in March and I had for a little ‘more than two weeks. I am very impressed with the product, is a great TV for my room, why can not I understand people are having problems with the audio. First of all, the TV has a good sound for one that is most suitable for a bedroom (not a teacher in size), I do not think that is more suitable for your kitchen or living room (too big). If you are worried that the sound, you can just plug in some computer speakers into the headphone jack for a richer sound, Samsung did not only that, when constructing the set for being nice. And if you are looking for a more expensive, then there’s always digital audio. And ‘fool to think that you are going to get the same type of sound from a 22 inch’ that would be obtained in a 32 inch ‘or higher. But everyone seems to agree that it is an excellent picture, the images are clear and sharp, even in standard definition. Do not be influenced by the sound “bad” comments, is a good buy.

I initially purchased the LN22B350, the ultimate unity of this series, but had to return it. You can read my review on it, but in short, it was because, despite the literature stating that it has a composite input and a component, should really read a composite or component. You can only use one or the other, because they share the video input jack. So, after viewing a real image of the input panel on this unit, I took a baby step back and ordered the B360.

Wait a minute! Amazon gave me an ambiguous “upgrade” from mistakenly sending the LN22A450. Series 4 is better than the 3 series, but the series A is older than the series B. They were willing to keep me, but after a little ‘research I discovered that the technology has leaped forward in what has been done. Among other things, it was just a contrast ratio of 3000:1 whereas this has 15,000:1. These days there is little difference between the numbers of massive yarn manufacturers unless you are in a high-calibration technology, but when it comes to a bass, not a good thing. Thus, a swap of more and I got the LN22B360.

I really like this series. Unless you’re an audiophile, there’s only one thing wrong with the sound. There are different settings and a bit ‘of an equalizer to customize, and level of 44, the volume is excellent. People must understand that no manufacturer is going to put high-end audio in a unit at this price. The series of 22 inches, is not what you want to pay $ 500 for, or should you need that kind of sound. You’re not going to get a lot of bells and whistles you get with the set larger, because this is not what people use their television sets for children.

So, after what was too new for my old unit, and one who was too old for the technology, this is right. I chose Samsung for On / Off Timer, which this unit has three, and the options are better than expected – to select all days, weekdays, weekends, etc., set-up was easy, l ‘equilibrium distance (though not back light), the keys are good size and laid out quite clever. The bottom screen makes the 720p and 60Hz non-problems. Since we do not pay for premium services, it was nice to see different channels broadcast in HD without a converter. And the down-low, I’m getting intermittent On Demand programming, but I wish that those who ordered them would have taken less time potty. Too much pause and rewind. LOL!

I am very happy with this purchase and hope to buy its big brother (46) and in the future after I am sure that Samsung is the way to go (and I believe it is).
